Overview
The Workforce Transformation – Organisation Simplification Project Manager works at Barclays to drive large‑scale, multi‑workstream programmes that fundamentally reshape how the bank is structured and how decisions are made. This role is not a traditional project management position; it requires a transformation practitioner who brings structure, discipline and consulting‑grade delivery to a tightly governed environment. The HR Transformation Manager – 12 Months Full Time Contract focuses on delivering change initiatives that embed new ways of working across the organisation, enhance business readiness and ensure seamless transition of technology delivery into BAU.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and analyse business impact and opportunities that require change within the organisation.
- Develop business readiness strategies to support successful implementation of change initiatives.
- Communicate with stakeholders, including senior management, project teams and external partners, to ensure they are informed and that expectations are met.
- Collaborate with Client Readiness, Operational Readiness & Tech Delivery teams to prepare sales, operations, client servicing and functional partners for smooth transition of technology into BAU.
- Manage resistance to change, ensuring stakeholder engagement and addressing concerns.
- Review business readiness plans and status reports with change delivery managers to ensure activities are completed on time, including new risks, issues and dependencies.
- Collaborate with project teams to align change initiatives with project objectives and integrate change management activities into project plans.
- Provide guidance and support to business stakeholders, ensuring they have necessary skills and knowledge to implement change successfully.
- Lead coordinated planning and execution across organisational simplification work streams, orchestrating design cycles, diagnostics, approvals and stakeholder forums.
- Translate executive intent into actionable deliverables, support detailed organisational design and manage complex interdependencies.
- Ensure robust governance through integrated plans, RAID management and high‑quality executive materials.
- Engage senior leaders across HR, Risk, Legal, Compliance and business units to drive decisions and resolve issues.
- Work closely with Org Vue, HR data teams and Workday specialists to check data accuracy, scenario modelling and downstream impacts.
- Influence and convince stakeholders to achieve outcomes and mitigate risk.
- Contribute to organisational simplification initiatives such as spanning layers reviews, role rationalisation and governance reduction.
- Proven management consulting experience specialising in HR, people or organisational change.
- Project or programme management capability with experience leading medium‑ or large‑scale transformation initiatives.
- Expertise in at least one organisational discipline: organisational design, effectiveness or change and communications.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, including the ability to engage senior leaders and navigate competing priorities.
- Experience with organisational simplification initiatives such as spans and layers reviews, role rationalisation and governance reduction.
- Prior delivery of workforce or organisation design programmes within large, complex organisations, with familiarity in operating model analysis and organisational structure assessment.
- Ability to work effectively with HRBPs, COO teams, Org Effectiveness and external consulting partners.
- Proficiency in tools and methodologies related to organisational design such as spans and layers analysis, role taxonomy design and modelling platforms like Org Vue.
- Demonstrated skills in risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking and digital technology.
