The Role
The Barnet Domestic Abuse Safety Hub (BDASH) forms part of the borough’s coordinated response to domestic abuse, providing advocacy, safety planning and support to survivors of domestic abuse across Barnet. The service delivers high-quality, trauma-informed interventions, working in partnership with statutory and voluntary sector agencies to improve safety, reduce risk, and promote recovery.
As Team Manager, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the day-to-day operations of BDASH and to lead a team of specialist staff, including Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVAs) and other practitioner roles. You will ensure that the service is delivered to a high standard, that contractual and organisational expectations are met, and that survivors receive timely, effective and person-centred support.
This role requires strong leadership, the ability to manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment, adapt to new software operating systems and processes and a commitment to partnership working. You will be responsible for ensuring delivery against agreed outcomes, maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, and keeping the needs of survivors at the centre of all service delivery.
Key Responsibilities 1. Team DeliveryDeliver BDASH directly and through the team, ensuring:
- The team is compliant with contract requirements, local authority expectations, internal standards, and relevant quality frameworks.
- Delivery of a culturally responsive, inclusive and trauma-informed service for survivors of domestic abuse.
- Safeguarding concerns are identified and addressed in accordance with safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Annual team and individual work plans are in place and regularly monitored.
- Overall responsibility for the management of relevant contracts, partnership agreements and pathways.
- Completion of regular performance and monitoring reports for commissioners and stakeholders, evidencing service activity and outcomes.
Lead, develop and motivate staff within the team by:
- Providing effective line management, supervision, coaching and mentoring.
- Facilitating regular team meetings, case discussions and quality assurance activity.
- Promoting a culture of continuous learning, reflection and professional development.
- Ensure effective use of case management systems and high-quality casework in line with agreed standards.
- Clearly communicate performance expectations, targets and priorities.
- Monitor individual and team performance against key performance indicators, outputs and outcomes.
- Provide support and management of underperformance where required.
Act as the outward-facing lead for BDASH by:
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with key partners including police, health, housing, children’s services and voluntary sector organisations.
- Supporting co-located working arrangements and integrated service delivery where applicable.
- Representing the service at multi-agency forums, including high-risk panels such as DA MARAC.
- Identifying opportunities to strengthen partnership practice, training and system improvement.
- Ensure all organisational and council policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Promote and embed equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of delivery.
- Attend meetings, training and development relevant to the role.
- Act as an ambassador for BDASH and represent the service at borough-level meetings and forums.
- Be responsible for monitoring expenditure and ensuring budgets are used appropriately, while supporting annual budget planning.
- Work in line with financial procedures and contribute to achieving value for money.
- Ensure safeguarding is central to all practice and that appropriate action is taken where concerns arise.
