Senior Community Engagement Manager at The Crown Estate Purpose of RoleTo lead and deliver high‑quality, inclusive community engagement across The Crown Estate’s Urban portfolio, with a primary focus on major London developments. The role ensures that community insight meaningfully informs project design, planning, and delivery, while building trusted relationships with a range of stakeholders and proactively managing engagement and reputational risk.
Context of Opportunity / Main Accountabilities- Lead the development and delivery of inclusive, outcome‑focused community engagement strategies across major development projects.
- Act as the engagement lead within project teams, ensuring community insight informs decision‑making at all stages of the project lifecycle.
- Build and maintain trusted, long‑term relationships with local communities, stakeholders and partners.
- Monitor community sentiment and stakeholder dynamics, providing clear advice on engagement approaches and potential risks.
- Identify, manage and mitigate reputational risks related to community and stakeholder issues.
- Champion innovative, inclusive and forward‑thinking approaches to community engagement across the portfolio, drawing on emerging best practice and external insight.
- Act as an internal and external advocate for the value of authentic engagement, influencing project teams, stakeholders and partners to embed progressive approaches that enhance community voice, inform decision‑making and deliver long‑term social value.
- Develop and deliver initiatives that create social, environmental and economic value alongside development objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Urban, Sustainability, Communications and External Affairs, to ensure alignment with broader strategies.
- Manage external partners and consultants to support delivery of engagement activities.
- Provide structured reporting on engagement activity, key insights, risks and outcomes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing insight and best practice across the wider portfolio.
- Demonstrable experience leading community engagement within complex development or built‑environment projects.
- Strong understanding of inclusive, two‑way engagement approaches that encourage broad participation.
- Ability to build and sustain trusted relationships with diverse communities and stakeholders.
- Experience managing stakeholder dynamics and reputational risk.
- Ability to work with autonomy and apply sound judgement in complex or sensitive situations.
- Strong communication and influencing skills across a range of audiences.
- Experience collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
