Your future role

Responsible for ensuring all train maintenance and servicing activities run to their maximum efficiency and output. People management for the production department, and responsible for providing the production staff direction, instruction, and guidance to either individuals or a group of staff, including Maintenance Technicians and Maintenance Assistants.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Assist in running an efficient train maintenance operation which is able to fulfil operational and contractual targets.
  • Manage maintenance projects in accordance with engineering instructions.
  • Responsible for the safety of individuals on the team and that of those impacted by any maintenance activity.
  • Understand and work in accordance with the company’s safety and quality requirements, and procedures within the Deport Safety Management System and Depot Operations Plan.
  • Perform effective diagnosis of train faults and timely repair of components to maximise train availability. Perform scheduled planned preventative maintenance in order to minimise train unavailability / downtime.
  • Record and document all work carried out within Alstom Asset Management System (SAP GSI).
  • Analyse faults to identify root cause and development of countermeasures, improvement actions and containments.
  • Control and source maintenance tools, equipment and spares
  • Support Reliability Shift manager and high tech team in documenting breakdowns, identifying root cause and remedial action to help identify and resolve recurring issues
  • Understand and maintain high standards of tidiness and organisation in line with good 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) practice
  • Understand and work in accordance with mandatory requirements of Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments of processes and tasks in the department
  • Work with the team and other department members to produce effective maintenance strategies, procedures and methods to meet the Train Plan and efficiency of the Exam Plan
  • Reporting to the Shift Production Manager, effectively lead a team of maintenance technicians and maintenance assistants to ensure smooth workflow with maximum output.
  • Motivate, coach and oversee the team’s performance, attendance and disciplinary issues
  • Responsible for the coaching of staff in good working practices and quality standards
  • Supporting the Shift Production Manager in the identification of training needs
  • Coaching staff in good working practices and quality standards
  • Deputise for Shift production manager as required during leave/ absence
