Assistant Project Manager (PMCM - Buildings)
Our PMCM Build team is looking for Assistant Project Managers to support the delivery of high‑value and/or complex infrastructure projects involving multidisciplinary teams for the Department for Education and similar clients. The role requires effective support of project leadership, proactive management at both client and project levels, and focus on programme, cost, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities- Support the management of projects from RIBA 1 to 6, providing the client with a consultancy project‑management service and offering advice and guidance throughout the project.
- Help develop plans and strategies to successfully deliver project objectives.
- Assist in managing the project team.
- Assist in identifying and resolving differences between individuals and/or interest groups.
- Support the Lead Consultant in agreeing contracts on behalf of the client, liaising with legal representatives, monitoring compliance, and managing variances.
- Assist the Lead Consultant with the production of Feasibility Reports, managing progress and delivering high‑quality reports to the client.
- Monitor and report on progress against agreed programmes at all stages, agreeing strategies to stay on programme or implementing mitigation measures when timescales vary.
- Experience on public sector projects with Local and Central Government agencies, particularly Education (desirable).
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations applicable to infrastructure projects, especially CDM regulations.
- Experience across different project stages from Feasibility Study through to Operation (desirable).
- Experience supporting the procurement of contractors, developing contractual documents, and achieving contract close.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams on behalf of a client and liaising with diverse specialisms.
- Support in developing and managing programmes, identifying issues, and creating solutions to address time challenges.
- Experience in identifying and managing risk and developing strategies to mitigate outcomes.
- Understanding of cost management and maintaining best value for the client while ensuring quality.
- Desirable chartership to MAPM, MCIOB, MRICS, or equivalent.
