Senior Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager will lead the end‑to‑end delivery of the bank’s key strategic initiatives. The role requires effective coordination of change delivery inter‑dependencies, project‑level management of risks and issues, and control of budgets, actuals and variance reporting.

Key Responsibilities Project Management
  • Design, build and develop the project delivery structure and governance to ensure effective and efficient delivery of change.
  • Plan the project delivery schedule, monitor progress, remove constraints and raise issues that cannot be resolved at the project level.
  • Manage time, cost, scope and quality in accordance with the sponsor’s mandate.
  • Co‑ordinate the delivery of the project outcomes, ensuring sufficient resources are available to meet the delivery schedule and that outcomes are delivered to an appropriate level of quality, on schedule and within the agreed budget.
  • Work collaboratively with other Project Managers across the organisation to deliver change and business outcomes efficiently.
  • Assure overall project integrity through adherence to Investec corporate, technical and specialist standards.
  • Identify key stakeholders, engage and maintain regular communication.
  • Manage handover of projects into BAU.
  • Deliver projects according to the Projects team methodology and standards.
  • Contribute status information to key forums – Risk & Control, Tech & Ops, Quarterly Planning.
Special Requirements
  • Handle multiple projects and portfolios concurrently.
  • Regulatory change experience.
  • Own and execute high‑level business analysis tasks when required.
Core Skills and Knowledge Communication Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Build strong relationships across business teams and geographies.
  • Strong team player demonstrating collaborative style and approach.
  • Facilitation skills to encourage collaboration, energise and maintain participation.
  • Emotional intelligence to read the room and resolve conflict confidently.
Project Management & Analytical Skills
  • Extensive hands‑on project management experience in a consulting firm or financial institution, specifically Banking.
  • Regulatory change experience.
  • Experience delivering large‑scale, multi‑year projects impacting multiple teams.
  • Full project management lifecycle experience.
  • Experience running IT and non‑IT projects.
  • Knowledge of business analysis, facilitation and problem‑solving methods.
  • Business case development and approval skills.
  • Matrix management experience with accountability to projects and the wider team.
  • Concurrent project management with conflicting priorities.
  • Benefits realisation planning and management.
  • User acceptance testing based on requirements gathering.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills.
Organisational Skills
  • Prioritise and manage time while juggling multiple projects.
  • Multi‑task, work flexibly and handle pressure.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work flexibly to meet deadlines.
Facilitation Skills
  • Obtain consensus, command respect and create a sense of community among project teams.
  • Experience with facilitation and collaboration tools.
  • Maintain an objective role and resolve conflict as required.
  • Act with integrity, treating customers fairly (compulsory).
  • Regulatory knowledge as applicable (compulsory).
Additional Attributes

Project management accreditation preferred.

Working Week

4 days in the office and one day remote. The agile culture supports collaboration and client focus.
