Head of Student Support and Experience

UKCBC is seeking an experienced and student focused Head of Student Support and Experience to lead the development and delivery of outstanding support services that enable students to thrive, succeed and progress. UKCBC exists to enable opportunity, cultivate confidence and develop capability through applied, inclusive and professionally relevant higher education. Working with university and awarding body partners, we support a diverse student community to succeed in their studies and progress towards positive destinations.

The Head of Student Support and Experience will provide strategic and operational leadership for the College's student success, safeguarding and experience functions. The role will lead the development of a modern, digitally enabled and data informed support model that helps students access the right support at the right time. A central priority will be the development of a self service first approach, supported by clear digital guidance and a tiered case management model for students with higher risk or more complex needs.

You will work closely with academic and professional services teams to improve student outcomes, strengthen engagement and ensure that support services are responsive, accessible and effective. The role also leads the College's safeguarding, Prevent and student protection responsibilities. Working in partnership with the Academic Registrar, you will ensure that attendance, engagement, continuation risk and case management are supported by reliable data, clear intervention thresholds and effective escalation arrangements.

• Lead student support, wellbeing, engagement and experience services across the College.
• Develop an integrated student success framework that strengthens transition, belonging, engagement, continuation and progression.
• Oversee safeguarding, Prevent, student protection and harassment and sexual misconduct procedures.
• Hold operational responsibility for compliance with OfS Condition E6 and maintain the operational readiness of the Student Protection Plan.
• Lead the development of a digitally enabled, self service student support model.
• Establish a tiered case management and triage model that directs timely support to students according to risk, need and complexity.
• Champion student voice, representation and belonging across the College.
• Oversee careers, employability and progression initiatives.
• Use data and insight to monitor student engagement and drive continuous service improvement.

You will have:

• Significant experience leading student support or student services in higher education.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, Prevent and student protection requirements.
• Experience developing student engagement, continuation or success strategies.
• Experience managing pastoral support or case management services.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to use data and insight to improve student outcomes and service performance.
• The ability to work effectively across academic, Registry and professional services teams within a matrix structure.
• Experience of partnership or franchised higher education provision, digital service transformation or regulatory reporting would be advantageous.
