Are you looking to build a career in the humanitarian and international development sector while gaining hands‑on experience in global deployments? This is an exciting opportunity to join Palladium's Advisory and Surge Deployments team, supporting the mobilisation of consultants who deliver critical expertise to governments and humanitarian responses worldwide.
As a Deployment Officer, you will play a key role in managing the end‑to‑end deployment journey, acting as the primary point of contact for consultants and ensuring deployments are delivered smoothly, professionally and in line with Palladium's and HMG's duty of care requirements. Working predominantly across CHORD, with opportunities to support Standby Partnership (SBP), UNDAC and other government clients, you will gain exposure to a diverse range of international programmes and emergency response activities.
This role is ideal for someone who is looking to develop their project coordination, stakeholder management and deployment expertise within a fast‑paced, purpose‑driven environment. Alongside day‑to‑day consultant management, you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, helping to enhance processes, build team capability and support the delivery of high‑quality deployment services.
Reporting to the Advisory and Surge Deployments Deputy Team Lead, this role offers excellent opportunities to learn, grow and develop a career in humanitarian operations and project management.
Project Overview: The Humanitarian and Stabilisation Operations Team (HSOT) is contracted by Palladium to deliver the Humanitarian Emergency Response Operations and Stabilisation Programme (HEROS), working with FCDO’s Conflict and Humanitarian Operations Department (CHORD) as well as multiple UK Government teams and partners in 130 countries. Within HEROS, the Advisory and Surge Team (A&S) provides operational and advisory support to meet humanitarian needs and restore stability in sudden‑onset disasters, protracted crises and complex emergencies.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
Operations (Contractor and Client Management)
- Project manage up to 15 active deployments, where you will be responsible for the recruitment, contracting and deployment of Contractors and Consultants.
- Advise and support task development with client
- Be the first point of contact for any wellbeing and performance issues flagged by the Activity managers ensuring they are escalated to appropriate individuals within HSOT in a timely manner.
- Responsible for contracting of consultants which includes issuing job offers, dealing with contract related queries.
- Be the point of contact for contracted staff on an array of issues, including performance, welfare and travel, utilising escalation mechanisms where appropriate.
- Arrange (de) briefing schedules and facilitate Palladium meetings with consultants.
Financial and information management
- Assume overall accountability for deployment budgets, ensuring that deployments are delivered in line with budget and forecast and that they deliver the required financial return.
- Manage deployment cost, revenue, and accruals in line with client expectations good financial management.
- Oversee deployment invoicing and debt, ensuring projects are billed in a timely manner and invoices are paid within 30 days of being issued.
- Report against deployment and client financial metrics.
- Support the external audit process and ensure retention of project records is compliant with company policy.
- Monitor deployment risks and escalated issues or suspected fraud to line manager.
- Support monthly, quarterly, annual contractual reporting on key result areas and, as required, any other important areas of concern.
- Assist in the promotion and encouragement of consistency, integrity, and transparency across the team.
