Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Greater London

Are you an ITU or ED nurse, or an emergency ambulance paramedic, with leadership experience - ready to lead the team that shapes how a major NHS Trust prepares for the moments that matter most?

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Resuscitation Practice Development Manager to help lead our new Resuscitation Practice Development Team, providing operational oversight of the resuscitation service across the Trust and ensuring our practice reflects national guidelines and Resuscitation Council (UK) standards.

You’ll line-manage and develop our Resuscitation Practice Development Nurses/Paramedics, and design and evaluate education and training programmes that meet the needs of a large, diverse multidisciplinary workforce - working closely with our Learning & Development Team and operational directorates to make sure training translates into real improvements in patient safety.

You’ll help shape resuscitation policy and audit frameworks, review incidents and turn learning into action. You’ll remain a visible, credible clinical resource and oversee equipment assurance across the Trust, including community settings. You’ll also deputise for the Lead for Resuscitation, giving you real exposure to strategic decision-making at Trust level.

This is a role where clinical expertise, education, and leadership come together to make a genuine difference to patient outcomes. If that sounds like you, we’d love you to apply.

  • Deliver, teach, and assess resuscitation training for Trust staff, supporting accredited RCUK ILS courses
  • Advise staff and departments on training needs, supporting the L&D department in meeting individual, Trust, and national requirements
  • Assist in the design, delivery, and evaluation of annual resuscitation training programmes, ensuring compliance with CQC and RCUK standards
  • Provide line management of the resuscitation team, including supervision, recruitment, and performance management
  • Support development and implementation of the resuscitation policy, contributing to clinical governance committees
  • Support the Trust's response to changes in national guidelines and evolving team structure, working with the Lead for Resuscitation
  • Support workload planning and the management of serious incidents, including debriefing and structured feedback
  • Act as a professional role model, providing accessible, expert advice on resuscitation practice across all Trust sites
  • Maintain oversight of resuscitation equipment Trust-wide, advising on selection, safety, and maintenance in line with RCUK standards
  • Contribute to Trust-wide clinical competency assessment tools and related policies, procedures, and audit frameworks
  • Draw on a strong emergency/critical care background to support clinical emergencies and maintain current clinical knowledge
  • Act as a credible role model, promoting high-quality, safe patient care

By coming to work at SLaM, you will join an organisation with a rich history and international reputation in mental health care, with access to professional development and the chance to work alongside world leaders in their field. Our close working relationship with King's Health Partners also opens up opportunities to get involved in academic research.

We’re committed to a healthy work-life balance and ensuring our staff feel valued, with a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • Generous pay, pensions and leave, dependent on role and length of service
  • Flexible working, including part-time and job share options
  • Career development, through mentoring, coaching, and leadership and talent programmes
  • Car lease schemes at competitive rates
  • Keyworker housing available on selected sites
  • NHS discounts of up to 10% with major retailers
