London The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Estates to join a large, complex NHS Trust on a 2-year fixed-term contract . Reporting into the senior Estates leadership team, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across a diverse healthcare estate, ensuring the delivery of safe, compliant, and efficient Estates services while supporting the organisation's wider transformation and sustainability objectives.
This is a high-profile leadership role offering the chance to influence estates strategy, lead major infrastructure and operational improvement programmes, and manage significant budgets, contracts, and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities Lead the delivery of Estates Operational Services across multiple sites. Ensure full statutory compliance across all building engineering systems and infrastructure. Manage and develop Estates teams, specialist services, and external contractors. Oversee Hard FM service delivery, asset management, maintenance programmes, and lifecycle planning. Lead compliance across key areas including:
Mechanical & Electrical Services Fire Safety Water Safety & Legionella Medical Gases Asbestos Health & Safety Ventilation and Critical Engineering Systems Manage significant operational and capital budgets. Drive service improvement, modernisation, and efficiency programmes. Support the delivery of sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives. Act as a key advisor to senior leadership on technical Estates matters. Requirements Significant senior-level Estates leadership experience within healthcare, public sector, higher education, or other complex operational environments.
Strong technical knowledge of engineering services, statutory compliance, and Estates governance. Experience managing large Estates budgets and contracted service providers. Proven leadership of multidisciplinary Estates and Engineering teams. Experience developing long-term asset management and maintenance strategies. Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence at executive level. What's on Offer?
