Lead Kirklees
Kirklees Council is a place of ambition, opportunity and change. Serving a diverse borough of more than 440,000 residents, we're committed to delivering excellent services, driving inclusive growth and creating thriving communities. As we continue our transformation journey, we're looking for exceptional leaders who can help shape the future of Kirklees and make a lasting difference for our residents.
About the roleAs Director of Property, you will provide strategic leadership across a wide ranging portfolio encompassing asset management, facilities management, corporate landlord transformation, capital programme delivery, housing growth and strategic housing. This is not a traditional estates role. It is a pivotal leadership position at the heart of the Council's transformation agenda.
You'll lead the development of a more strategic, data driven and financially sustainable approach to property and asset management, helping to shape how the Council invests in, rationalises and makes best use of its extensive estate. With hundreds of operational assets and thousands of land holdings, your work will influence the future of civic buildings, depots, parks, schools, leisure facilities and development sites across the borough.
A key priority will be driving forward Corporate Landlord reform, supporting estate rationalisation, asset utilisation, disposal programmes, civic campus rebalancing and depot consolidation. You will also play an important role in enabling housing growth ambitions, with major developments already progressing across multiple strategic sites. Alongside this, you will provide strategic oversight of services spanning homelessness and rough sleeping, private sector housing, aids and adaptations, and housing strategy.
AboutYou
This is a rare opportunity to take on one of the most influential property leadership roles in local government. You'll join Kirklees at a defining point in its journey, with the freedom to shape strategic direction, influence major investment decisions and drive a transformation agenda that will leave a lasting impact across the borough.
As a key member of the Place leadership team, you'll work alongside ambitious colleagues, elected members and external partners to deliver real change. You'll have a highly visible leadership platform, the opportunity to shape the future of a significant public estate and the chance to play a central role in delivering the Council's wider ambitions for growth, regeneration and public service improvement.
This is a role with genuine breadth, combining strategic leadership, commercial thinking and place shaping influence. For the right person, it offers the opportunity to build a lasting legacy, lead a talented team of professionals and help define how one of the country's largest local authorities uses its assets to support communities and create value for residents.
If you're excited by the opportunity to transform a major public estate, influence strategic investment decisions and play a leading role in shaping the future of Kirklees, we'd love to hear from you.
