Design Manager

Sweco UK is looking for a talented and motivated Design Manager to join our growing Mission Critical team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design management of complex data centre projects across Europe. Working closely with clients, consultants and contractors, you will help coordinate the design process from early-stage planning through to delivery, ensuring design quality, programme, risk and stakeholder interfaces are effectively managed.

In this role, you will support the delivery of technically complex, high-value projects within the Mission Critical sector. You will use your design management experience to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, support decision-making and contribute to the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating and managing design activity across multidisciplinary project teams
• Chairing and contributing to design and project meetings with clients, designers and contractors
• Supporting the preparation, review and coordination of design deliverables
• Helping manage design risk, assumptions, interfaces and change throughout the project lifecycle
• Working with project teams to maintain programme, quality and compliance requirements
• Supporting bid, planning and project delivery activities as required
• Contributing to the development of improved design management processes, tools and best practice
• Building strong working relationships with clients and project stakeholders

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:

• Experience in design management, project coordination or a similar role within engineering, construction or infrastructure
• A relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical background
• Chartered status, or working towards chartership, would be an advantage
• Experience in data centres, critical infrastructure or complex built environment projects is desirable
• Strong communication, organisation and coordination skills
• A proactive, collaborative approach with excellent attention to detail
• The ability to manage competing priorities and influence stakeholders effectively
