Sweco UK is looking for a talented and motivated Design Manager to join our growing Mission Critical team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the design management of complex data centre projects across Europe. Working closely with clients, consultants and contractors, you will help coordinate the design process from early-stage planning through to delivery, ensuring design quality, programme, risk and stakeholder interfaces are effectively managed.
What you’ll be doingIn this role, you will support the delivery of technically complex, high-value projects within the Mission Critical sector. You will use your design management experience to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, support decision-making and contribute to the successful delivery of critical infrastructure projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating and managing design activity across multidisciplinary project teams
- Chairing and contributing to design and project meetings with clients, designers and contractors
- Supporting the preparation, review and coordination of design deliverables
- Helping manage design risk, assumptions, interfaces and change throughout the project lifecycle
- Working with project teams to maintain programme, quality and compliance requirements
- Supporting bid, planning and project delivery activities as required
- Contributing to the development of improved design management processes, tools and best practice
- Building strong working relationships with clients and project stakeholders
To be successful in this role, you’ll bring:
- Experience in design management, project coordination or a similar role within engineering, construction or infrastructure
- A relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical background
- Chartered status, or working towards chartership, would be an advantage
- Experience in data centres, critical infrastructure or complex built environment projects is desirable
- Strong communication, organisation and coordination skills
- A proactive, collaborative approach with excellent attention to detail
- The ability to manage competing priorities and influence stakeholders effectively
