About our Team
The role manages a team of 4 people, and acts as a link with groups including Business area finance teams, Group FP&A, Investor Relations, Treasury, Tax and Company Secretariat, ensuring that all external financial reporting is timely, clear and accurate.
About the Role
Leads the external financial reporting activities of RELX PLC, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, compliant and timely financial reporting for shareholders, and other stakeholders. The role is responsible for the Group financial statements included in the Annual Report and Half Year Results Announcement, oversight of subsidiary statutory reporting, external reporting compliance and management of the external financial reporting process and timetable.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Group's external financial reporting process, overseeing the production of the Annual Report, Half Year Results and 20-F filings, ensuring compliance with IFRS and regulatory requirements.
- Manage reporting governance, timetables and stakeholder review cycles, coordinating inputs across Finance, Legal, Company Secretariat, Investor Relations, Sustainability and business teams.
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting quality, efficiency and controls, including oversight of electronic tagging and external reporting processes.
- Serve as the Group's technical accounting expert, providing IFRS guidance, supporting finance teams, and maintaining Group accounting policies.
- Lead the assessment and implementation of new accounting standards, reviewing significant accounting judgments, estimates and disclosures to ensure compliance.
- Monitor regulatory developments and reporting best practice, driving high-quality financial reporting and disclosure across the Group.
- Act as the primary finance contact for external auditors, managing the Group financial statement audit, coordinating deliverables, and ensuring timely completion of reporting milestones.
- Lead, coach and develop the external reporting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement while supporting succession planning and talent development.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, CA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience in Group reporting, external reporting and technical accounting within large multinational organisations.
- Extensive knowledge of IFRS and UK/US listed company reporting requirements, with experience leading annual and interim reporting processes and managing external audit relationships.
- Excellent communication, project management and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to deliver high-quality reporting under tight deadlines.
