Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Greater London

We are seeking an experienced Production Shift Manager to lead our client’s Plant Production area. This is a key leadership role responsible for delivering safe, high‑quality, and efficient production across a rotating shift pattern.

You will act as the primary Production lead on site, driving performance, standards, and accountability while working closely with cross‑functional teams. This is a people‑led leadership role, requiring strong capability in managing teams, handling complex employee relations issues, and building a high‑performance culture, not just technical production oversight.

Shift Rotation

This is a rotating 4‑day shift pattern (Friday to Monday 37.5 hours a week) covering both days and night.

Why a role like this?
  • Significant leadership responsibility – a true site‑based Production Manager role with ownership of shift performance and team leadership.
  • Strong career impact and visibility – direct influence on production performance, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Opportunity to shape culture – play a key role in building a high‑performance, safety‑first, people‑focused production environment.
  • Cross‑functional exposure in a complex manufacturing setting – work closely with engineering, quality, HR, maintenance, and supply chain teams in a highly collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage Production Team Leaders and Technicians across rotating shifts.
  • Ensure safe, compliant, and high‑quality production output in line with H&S and Quality standards.
  • Own people‑management activities, including performance reviews, development plans, absence management, and disciplinary processes.
  • Drive shift performance against KPIs, including output, efficiency, and schedule adherence.
  • Act as the primary Production lead on shift, coordinating cross‑functional issue resolution.
  • Promote and embed Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives (6S, RCA, 5 Whys).
  • Oversee production planning, shift loading, and skill allocation.
  • Lead investigations and corrective actions for safety, quality, and operational issues.
Qualifications
  • Proven people‑management experience in a manufacturing/industrial production environment.
  • Strong experience managing employee relations cases (disciplinaries, investigations, absence and performance management).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead shift‑based production teams in a fast‑paced operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and Quality compliance within production settings.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement tools (e.g. 6S, RCA, 5 Whys).
  • Strong cross‑functional leadership and communication skills, working effectively with engineering, quality, maintenance, and support teams.

If you’re looking for a role where you can combine your production leadership experience with excellent people‑management skills, then this is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact.
