Lead operative

Location: South East London

Lead Operative Waste Management We are recruiting an experienced and dependable Lead Operative to join a busy waste management and recycling operation. This is a hands-on position combining operational duties with responsibility for supporting and coordinating a team. You will be stepping in for when the team leader is away. The successful candidate will lead by example, help maintain productivity and ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently.

Working hours:

4 on 4 off. 6am - 6pm. Key responsibilities Coordinate operatives and allocate daily workloads. Work hands-on alongside the team when required. Ensure waste is correctly sorted, processed and stored. Monitor productivity and help the team achieve daily targets. Conduct basic equipment and workplace safety checks. Ensure health, safety and environmental procedures are followed. Maintain high standards of housekeeping across the site.

Support the training and development of new employees. Report operational issues, breakdowns and safety concerns to management. Complete basic production and compliance paperwork. Provide cover for the supervisor when required. The ideal candidate Previous experience in waste management, recycling, manufacturing, warehousing or a similar industrial environment. Some experience leading or supervising a small team. A practical, hands-on approach to work.

Confident allocating duties and motivating others. Strong awareness of health and safety procedures. Reliable, organised and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Good communication and problem-solving skills. Willingness to work outdoors and in a physically demanding environment. Experience operating plant machinery, forklifts or loading shovels would be beneficial, although training may be available. Whats on offer Competitive rate Permanent employment.
