Initially a one-year contract Our client, a leading organisation in the horticultural sector, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Research and Development Associate to join their dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to innovative plant and seed production techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee the day-to-day production and maintenance of plant and seed materials, ensuring they meet customer standards and promptly addressing any issues that arise. Conduct experimental work both independently and collaboratively, utilising established and novel screening methods. Maintain plants under glasshouse conditions for the duration of testing, ensuring optimal growth and health. Collaborate with the Technical Support Team to uphold high levels of customer support and satisfaction.

Develop your technical knowledge and skills by engaging with a variety of production techniques. Identify areas for efficiency improvements and actively participate in problem-solving discussions with team members and supervisors. Keep records and databases updated with precision and accuracy. Embrace a continuous improvement mindset, contributing to the enhancement of screening methods and processes. Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all safety procedures and HSE regulations.

Ensure compliance with DEFRA, CBD, QMS, and HSE regulations regarding genetically modified organisms and licenced plant materials. Demonstrate a strong work ethic with a focus on consistency and accountability in all tasks. Potential involvement in test planning as required. Skills and

Qualifications:

General knowledge of plant biology; familiarity with seed production and horticultural techniques is highly desirable. Proficient in Microsoft Office programmes. Strong analytical, organisational, and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented with excellent communication abilities. Quick learner with a proactive attitude, both as a self-starter and a team player. Exceptional self-management and time management capabilities. HND level in Horticulture or a minimum of 2 years' experience in Horticulture or Seed Supply is preferred.
