We are currently recruiting for a Site Chemist to join a busy industrial site based in Rochester.
This is a hands-on position where you will work closely with the Site Management team, supporting the safe and compliant operation of the site. The role will involve inspecting and testing incoming materials, identifying appropriate disposal and recycling routes, preparing outgoing loads and carrying out laboratory testing.
Hours :
Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm
Salary:
From £30,000 per annum, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-time, permanent
The RoleYour responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring site activities remain compliant with relevant permits and procedures.
- Inspecting and testing incoming waste/materials to determine appropriate disposal or recycling routes.
- Ensuring materials are correctly identified, segregated and stored.
- Preparing and inspecting outgoing loads.
- Repackaging and bulking materials where required.
- Raising and managing non-conformance reports within agreed timescales.
- Recording incoming paperwork and maintaining accurate site records.
- Supporting stock tracking and environmental reporting requirements.
- Carrying out laboratory testing of samples.
- Operating a 3.5-tonne counterbalance forklift safely as required.
- Supporting the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the site.
- Deputising for the Senior Site Chemist when required.
- Working with other members of the site team to ensure health, safety and environmental standards are maintained.
- Carrying out other duties as required by the Site Management team.
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- A minimum HND in Chemistry or a related subject.
- A valid 3.5-tonne Counterbalance Forklift Licence - this is essential for the role.
- Previous experience in a laboratory, industrial, chemical, waste or manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to accurately identify and assess materials.
- A strong understanding of health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- A practical and hands-on approach to your work.
