This is a leadership role that may also involve a degree of hands‑on involvement on the shop floor.

You'll be instrumental in maintaining a productive, organised and quality‑driven manufacturing environment, helping the business continually improve its processes and performance.

  • Your responsibilities will include:

Leading, supervising and supporting the welding production team.
  • Organising workloads and coordinating production activities to meet manufacturing schedules.
  • Monitoring progress across shifts and communicating updates, challenges and achievements.
  • Ensuring all welding and fabrication work meets the required quality standards.
  • Promoting and enforcing health and safety procedures throughout the workshop.
  • Ensuring quality control plans, production records and job documentation are completed correctly.
  • Making sure inspection requirements and quality hold points are followed.
  • Maximising team performance, productivity and the effective use of resources.
  • Working alongside Production Engineering and Management to support capacity planning and delivery targets.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen and visual daily management.
  • Supporting problem‑solving activities and implementing improvements to production quality.
  • Developing strong working relationships across departments to ensure the smooth running of operations.
What We're Looking For

We're keen to hear from candidates with a solid engineering manufacturing background who have experience leading teams in a welding or fabrication environment. You'll ideally have:

  • Recognised coded welder qualifications.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or team leadership role within an engineering manufacturing business.
  • A strong understanding of welding, fabrication and production processes.
  • Experience working in a build‑to‑order or project‑based manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, support and develop a team.
  • A strong focus on quality, health and safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Experience improving production efficiency and driving continuous improvement.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to plan workloads and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to produce accurate reports and production updates.
  • A proactive, structured approach to problem‑solving and operational management.
