** About the Role
** We're looking for a Customer Insights Lead (Maternity Cover) to join our Brand and Growth team and become the driving force behind our customer understanding and competitive intelligence. This is a pivotal role that sits at the intersection of brand strategy, product development, and campaign execution - turning data into actionable insights that shape how we connect with our target market of investors and traders.
You'll own our competitive intelligence function, lead our creative testing programme, and partner closely with Product teams on research and user testing. As a senior member of the insights team, you'll also mentor and develop our Consumer Insights Manager, helping build our insights capability for the future.
** What you will do
**** Competitive intelligence & market tracking*
* * Build and maintain a comprehensive competitive intelligence infrastructure, making insights accessible and actionable across the business
* Audit, organise and synthesise intelligence from multiple sources including media agencies, data partners, and market research
* Monitor key competitors across investment, crypto, and trading markets, flagging significant moves and strategic shifts
** Creative testing & campaign development*
* * Design and implement a systematic creative testing programme to evaluate and optimize campaign concepts pre-launch
* Work closely with the Campaign team to conduct qualitative research including focus groups, depth interviews, and concept testing on messaging, creative routes, and brand positioning
* Deliver actionable recommendations that will help the marketing managers improve key brand metrics (awareness, consideration, 'for people like me')
** Product and user research*
* * Partner with Product teams to provide responsive consumer insights supporting product development
* Execute diverse research methods based on team needs - from quick pulse surveys to in-depth ethnographic studies
* Deliver actionable insights with clear recommendations
** Team leadership*
* * Mentor and develop the Consumer Insights Manager, helping them build skills to progress to the next level
* Create learning opportunities and exposure to senior stakeholders
* Build strong collaborative relationships across Brand, Product, and Commercial teams
* Identify opportunities to elevate IG's Consumer Insights capability
** What you will need for this role
*** 10+ years in consumer insights, market research, or similar roles, ideally within financial services, fintech, or consumer brands
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment (FCA compliance awareness a plus)
* Strategic thinker who can translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations
* Proven track record designing and executing both qualitative and quantitative research programmes
* Strong experience in creative/advertising testing methodologies and best practices
* Demonstrable expertise in competitive intelligence and market tracking
* Familiarity with research tools and platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, Savanta, You Gov)
* Background in mentoring or developing junior team members
