Tocreate and deliver an effective communications strategy, we are looking for an Internal Communications and Engagement Manager to join us. Working on a large infrastructure project, you’ll inform and engage with a dispersed workforce, in multiple office and non-office sites. In this role, you’ll be accountable for a programme of activity with the support of a direct report, and working collaboratively with colleagues in External Affairs, the People Team, and in the programme’s Delivery Partners.

Your

key responsibilities will be:
  • Create and update the Internal Communications and Engagement Strategy, in consultation with leadership to ensure it anticipates and reflects the programme’s goals and challenges.
  • Manage the event and channel strategy. This includes a weekly Teams broadcast; a monthly hybrid staff briefing; email sharing of news and information; updating a news feed and information cascades to share sensitive and tailored information.
  • Oversee a programme of regular and periodic events (online, in-person and hybrid) to share information and facilitate two-way engagement between programme leadership and workforce.
  • Deliver two annual away days – a summer briefing, and a winter recognition event, ensuring they meet strategic objectives, client expectations, and delivered to budget.
  • Oversee the distribution of communications through a range of channels to keep all employees informed of programme news, milestones, and activities.
  • Take accountability for the quality of internal communications – acting as the gatekeeper between those who wish to communicate and those receiving them – systematically ensuring the required processes and checks are in place to ensure appropriateness, quality, tone of voice and branding.
  • Be the strategic point of contact for internal stakeholders and offer advice and support delivery of workforce development and change management campaigns.
  • Chair the internal communications and engagement steering group to facilitate knowledge-sharing and aligning of communications with key internal stakeholders and Delivery Partners.
  • Manage a direct report on the Internal Communications and Engagement Assistant
  • Oversee and initiate the commission of content through the in-house creative and digital teams.
  • Manage the annual internal communications survey and seek feedback and implement improvements to internal communications and engagement in the programme.
  • Oversee the delivery of the Reward and Recognition Scheme.
  • Manage receipt and resourcing of ad hoc activities as required during the programme life cycle.

  • Experience of working in a senior internal communications & engagement role delivering an ongoing programme of communications and engagement.
  • Experience of creating and improving internal communications and engagement strategies, through to and including delivery of the strategy
  • Experience reviewing and enhancing employee engagement levels by implementing a structured delivery plan
  • Experience of obtaining employee feedback and analysing results
  • Experience engaging with senior leaders to anticipate programme goals and challenges
  • Previously built and managed relationships with colleagues across the workforce in an environment with frequent changes and competing priorities
