About Us
  • We are the youngest national newspaper in the UK - which means we have less legacy baggage than most news brands out there.
  • We are the only national newspaper that has never backed a political party
, and that's not a weakness, it's our greatest strength. It means we hold every politician to account, regardless of who they are or what they stand for. No allegiances. Just honest, independent journalism.
About the role

This is an entry-level or senior exec marketing role and a great place to start or build your career in digital marketing. You'll work closely with, and report to, the Digital Subscription Marketing Manager, getting stuck into the day-to-day work that drives growth in paid digital subscribers.

Expect to learn a lot, contribute from day one, and get hands-on experience across a genuinely varied mix of channels and projects.

We're looking for someone curious, creative, and eager to learn: a self-starter who brings energy and enthusiasm, asks good questions, and takes pride in doing things well.

Main Responsibilities

Campaign Execution

  • Support the delivery of subscription, content, and brand campaigns across social, search, email, and print.
  • Assist in shaping the paid social strategy that supports subscription growth.
  • Collaborate closely with our design and product teams on campaign planning and execution, helping to coordinate activity and keep projects moving.
  • Assist with newsletter and registration lead generation, contributing to audience-building initiatives that feed our subscriber pipeline.
  • Assist in supporting strategic partnerships from set-up through to completion.
  • Keep an eye on emerging news stories and flag opportunities to promote the brand and drive subscriptions.
  • Pitch in on new marketing initiatives as they arise, no two weeks will look the same.

Performance & Reporting

  • Help monitor performance against key marketing metrics including volumes, conversion rates, and channel performance versus budget.
  • Assist in gathering data and insights to help the team understand what's working and what needs improving.

Brand

  • Ensure all activity follows The i Paper brand guidelines.
  • Support designers, product, and editorial to maintain quality and consistency across all subscriber-facing touchpoints.

Optimisations

  • Assist with reviewing campaign and channel performance to spot opportunities to improve efficiency and results.
  • Help with A/B testing across email, landing pages, and ad creative — documenting findings and feeding learnings back to the team.
  • Flag drop-off points in subscription journeys and elevate to the right people to address them.
  • Help keep on top of platform updates and best practices so the team is always making the most of the tools available.
  • Keep an eye on what competitors are doing and share anything interesting or relevant with the team.
  • Help build a picture of industry trends that could shape future campaign thinking and strategy.
Person Specification
  • Some experience in a marketing role, or a strong desire to build a career in marketing - at this level, attitude matters more than experience.
  • Proactive by nature: you don't wait to be told, you get on with it and flag things early.
  • Instinct for what performs on different social channels Instagram/Facebook/Reddit etc, and an understanding of platform culture and trends
  • Organised and detail-oriented: you keep on top of your workload and take pride in getting things right.
  • Strong written English, with solid copywriting and proofreading skills.
  • Comfortable with data, you don't need to be an analyst, but you can work with a performance dashboard and draw sensible conclusions.
  • You follow the news and can spot when a story presents a marketing opportunity.
  • Creative and visually minded, with a good eye for what works, whether that's a social post, an email, or a campaign concept. You'll be involved in briefing and reviewing creative, so an instinct for engaging, on-brand visuals and copy is important.
  • Some experience in a D2C or subscription-based environment.
  • Exposure to multi-channel marketing,…
