We are working with a brilliant sports marketing agency looking to hire an Account Director with a strong background in PR and earned media.
You'll be working on a major global sports brand, leading creatively driven campaigns at the heart of football, sport and culture.
The work could see you collaborating with high-profile footballers and talent, developing culturally relevant campaign ideas, creating moments around major sporting occasions and securing coverage across sports, consumer and lifestyle media.
This is definitely not a role for someone who wants to deliver safe or predictable campaigns. The client expects brilliant ideas and will challenge the agency creatively, so you'll need to understand what genuinely connects with sports fans and gets people talking.
The role will include:
- Leading sports PR and earned media campaigns from initial idea through to delivery
- Developing creative concepts rooted in football, fan culture and wider popular culture
- Working closely with footballers, athletes, creators and entertainment talent
- Managing senior client relationships and providing confident strategic counsel
- Identifying proactive stories and culturally relevant opportunities
- Leading media relations across sports, consumer and lifestyle titles
- Overseeing talent-led content, shoots, events and activations
- Collaborating with creative, social, production and wider agency teams
- Managing and developing junior members of the team
- Ensuring every campaign delivers creatively and earns genuine attention
I'm looking for someone who:
- Has a strong background in PR and earned media, most likely gained within a PR agency
- Has worked on sports campaigns
- Understands football culture, its fans and the wider media landscape
- Has experience working directly with athletes, footballers or other high-profile talent
- Has delivered culturally relevant campaigns that go beyond traditional sports marketing
- Is genuinely creative and confident bringing strong ideas to the table
- Understands how sport connects with fashion, entertainment, music and youth culture
- Can lead clients, campaigns and internal teams
- Has strong media relationships and knows what makes an idea earn coverage
- Is ambitious, collaborative and excited by the opportunity to produce brilliant work
This role would suit someone from a consumer or sports PR agency who wants to work on creatively ambitious campaigns involving elite football talent and major moments in the sporting calendar.
