Hurst Farm Regeneration Ltd (Wild Works) is a Community Benefit Society working for the benefit of residents on the Hurst Farm estate, Matlock.
We are in the final year of delivering the Hurst Farm Heritage Trail project funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund (Heritage Fund) alongside Derbyshire Dales District Council.
The project has completed the upgrade of woodland footpaths, the installation of new information boards and an app-based trail celebrating the natural environment, local history and community voices. The trail connects key heritage and community sites including the Farmer’s Community Garden - a key focal point for volunteering and activities.
Wild Works is responsible for an ‘Activity Plan’ which underpins these physical improvements, which focuses on environmental sustainability, wellbeing, skills development and inclusive volunteering and engagement. So far the programme includes woodland activities such as tree planting, coppicing, surveying and dead hedging alongside our Ranger team and Dry Stone Walling, woodland crafts, community growing at the Farmers Community Garden and an Oral History project.
During 2026 Wild Works will be moving into a new phase and generating income to develop the future of the organisation alongside completing the Activity Plan for the Heritage Fund project by the end of September 2026.
Key responsibilitiesThis public-facing role is responsible for coordinating and ensuring the successful delivery of the Activity Plan, working with our Community Ranger and Outdoor Activity Leader who will deliver sessions.
This includes managing volunteer involvement and engagement, supporting programme logistics, participants and providing the monitoring and reporting required by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
The postholder will be central to ensuring that all Activity Plan activities are delivered to schedule, to a high standard and in line with stakeholder and funder expectations around accessibility, inclusion and community benefit.
Job Description Activity Plan CoordinationLead the day-to-day coordination of all community and volunteer activities within The Heritage Fund Activity Plan.
Work collaboratively with the Business Development Manager, Outdoor Community Activity Leader, Community Ranger and partners to coordinate the community programme.
Support income‑generating activities based on traditional crafts and outdoor skills. Work closely with the Business Development Manager to identify opportunities for income generation.
Ensure activities are inclusive and appropriate for target audiences.
Lead on the recruitment, induction and retention of volunteers.
Maintain volunteer records and related admin systems.
Support volunteers in identifying roles and training needs.
Help to foster a positive, inclusive and supportive volunteer culture.
Monitoring, evaluation and reportingCollect accurate records of activities, participation, outputs and feedback.
Contribute to quarterly progress reports (Heritage Fund) and Board reports.
Track progress against Activity Plan milestones.
Liaise with the Business Development Manager regarding Activity Plan related budgets.
CommunicationsSupport the Business Development Manager in executing the Marketing Plan.
Ensure communications are clear and appropriate for diverse audiences.
Community and Stakeholder EngagementBuild strong relationships with partners, audiences, schools and community groups.
Ensure community feedback informs ongoing delivery.
ComplianceEnsure health and safety requirements and risk assessments are in place for each activity.
Ensure necessary equipment and resources are available.
GeneralAny other tasks requested by your line manager that arecommensuratewith the level of the post & the aims of Hurst Farm Regeneration Ltd t/a Wild Works.
Person SpecificationWe are a small, friendly and supportive team. We are looking for an enthusiastic self starter and team player with excellent organisational skills, who can work with and support a wide range of people at all ages.
- Demonstrable experience of leading on and coordinating community and/or heritage related engagement activities.
- Good organisational skills.
- Ability to engage a wide range of people.
- Experience of collecting and report evidence and information.
- Flexibility to work occasional weekends and evenings.
- Experience with Heritage Fund-funded projects.
- Experience in roles working with children and young adults
- Experience of outdoor, nature, wellbeing and/or heritage engagement.
- Understanding of rural community and/or estate-based contexts.
