East London Waterworks Park is looking for campaigner volunteers to lead projects in creating our community-owned park.
What difference will you make?Your campaigning will be instrumental in fostering a strong connection between our community, the park, and its biodiversity. Your input will help us craft compelling narratives that inspire, educate, and engage our service users, stakeholders, funders, and the general public, ultimately driving support for the park's mission and ensuring its long-term sustainability.
What are we looking for?We are seeking community leaders to build trust and mobilise diverse groups. You will serve as a primary advocate, navigating local policy and utilising media and public speaking to champion our vision.
The role requires robust project management skills to oversee budgets, volunteers, and fundraising. Above all, we need a resilient steward with a deep passion for community-led development and the ecological knowledge necessary to create a thriving, sustainable green space.
What will you be doing?Volunteer‑led East London Waterworks Park won a 2024 NLA award and raised £2m towards buying the 14‑acre Lea Bridge Thames Water Depot to turn into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming, forest schools, and community spaces.
We are seeking campaigners for our working group, offering a chance to lead projects on creating community infrastructure. The Governance Circle meets fortnightly on Thursday evenings on Google Meet.
