East London Waterworks Park is looking for community developers to lead projects in creating our community-owned park as well as other green and blue spaces.
What difference will you make?Your strategic development will be instrumental in fostering a strong connection between our community, the park, and its biodiversity. Your input will help us craft compelling narratives that inspire, educate, and engage our service users, stakeholders, funders, and the general public, ultimately driving support for the park's mission and ensuring its long-term sustainability.
What are we looking for?We are looking for an expert in community land ownership and stewardship to implement governance models like Land Trusts that ensure local control. You must be a skilled facilitator of participatory decision-making to ensure inclusive, equitable outcomes.
The role requires a community builder experienced in volunteer management and engagement. A deep commitment to ecological resilience and the creation of sustainable, inclusive green spaces is essential.
What will you be doing?Volunteer-led East London Waterworks Park won a 2024 NLA award and raised £2m towards buying the 14-acre Lea Bridge Thames Water Depot to turn into a new biodiverse park with natural swimming, forest schools, and community spaces.
We are seeking environmental community developers for our working group, offering a chance to lead projects on creating community infrastructure. The Governance Circle meets fortnightly on Thursday evenings on Google Meet.
