We’re looking for a friendly, reliable and hands-on
Service Delivery Shift Leader to coordinate and oversee the smooth running of Shower Box Barking every Tuesday (12M contract).

Shower Box provides free mobile shower services for people experiencing homelessness and hygiene poverty – offering dignity, care, and a safe space for anyone who needs it. Our Barking project is a partnership between London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, Barking Churches Unite and Shower Box, and we have been running for over a year.

We are now at capacity on our Friday shower service, so we are opening on Tuesdays too, with dedicated women-only hours in the morning (with the remainder of the session open to anyone).

Due to the nature of this role, which involves organising and leading women-only shower hours, this post is open to woman-identifying applicants only.

The Shift Leader will be responsible for setting up the Tuesday service, managing the volunteer team, and ensuring a respectful, welcoming experience for all our guests.

Approx.
7 hours on Tuesdays plus 2 hours of outreach per week

• Lead the setup and close-down of the shower service

• Coordinate and support volunteers on the day

• Ensure health and safety standards are upheld

• Be the main point of contact for guests and volunteers

• Record and provide service delivery data as required

• Respond to any on-site issues with calm and care

• Lead on outreach for both the Tuesday and Friday services and community

• Organised and dependable, with good communication skills

• Experience leading a team of approx 4 volunteers each week

• Experience of safeguarding processes and conflict management

• Alignment with Shower Box’s values of dignity, respect, and inclusivity

• Experience supporting vulnerable adults e.g due to mental health, substance use, homelessness etc

• Full UK driving license preferred

• Certified First Aider
