Senior Campaigner – Climate MissionWe’re recruiting a Senior Campaigner to head campaigns to reduce the influence of the Populist Right on climate.
The core of the role is developing and delivering campaign strategy and holding accountability to impact across significant strands of the climate campaign. This includes spotting opportunities, leading tactics from political and legal to non‑violent direct action and creative communications, ensuring outputs align with our theory of change.
Responsibilities- Lead the planning and delivery of effective and ambitious campaign strategies with multiple, overlapping strands and communications projects.
- Collaborate using skills to influence, guide, and manage multidisciplinary teams to build creative, people‑powered campaigns.
- Line manage a Campaigner to deliver projects in line with the strategy.
- Communicate complex messages across platforms, including media interviews and presentations to partners and audiences.
- Build and maintain a strong network within the climate sector and movement.
- Champion anti‑racist values and tailor approach to diverse perspectives, helping reach a broader audience.
You will thrive if you have a strong track record in developing campaign strategy and delivering effective tactics, ideally within campaigning or advocacy. You work at pace, adapt quickly as the news agenda shifts, and manage to turn opportunities into project achievements. You understand how to shape strategies for positive change.
Experience with climate, energy transition or tackling the rise of the populist right would be an advantage. You will report to the Co‑Head of Climate, line manage a Campaigner and collaborate with multidisciplinary action, organising, mobilising and communications teams.
The role spans rapid response on urgent, politically charged issues, from international conflicts to local elections and extreme weather, while steering longer‑term strategies to tackle the populist right and rebuild climate salience.
Essential Criteria- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of campaigning, with a strong track record of success in a public‑facing environment.
- Ability to design effective, ambitious strategies with multiple, overlapping strands and projects.
- Demonstrable leadership skills able to influence, guide, line‑manage campaigners and task‑manage multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to deliver impactful communications, including an iterative approach to measurable outcomes and acting as a campaign spokesperson.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective contacts and relationships within the campaigning sector.
- Commitment to diversity and anti‑racism, with tangible examples of such commitment in work.
