Heartwood House is a dynamic education charity who recognise that mainstream schooling isnt suitable for everyone. Many of their students have faced challenges and disappointments in conventional education settings, feeling unheard and undervalued. Their approach is distinctively nurturing and student-centred, focusing on creating a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment where every student feels valued and listened to. By fostering strong, supportive relationships, they encourage their students to explore their interests and engage with learning at their own pace, driven by curiosity and a desire for personal growth.
They emphasize the importance of voluntary participation and self-motivation, ensuring their students understand they are an integral part of their community by choice. At Heartwood House, learning is a pathway to a more positive future, crafted with the students voice and aspirations at the forefront. Heartwood House (Harrow) is now looking to strengthen their Board and are seeking a Safeguarding Trustee Demonstrable knowledge and experience of working within an environment where safeguarding is of primary concern.
An understanding of safeguarding and child protection with respect to both the law and practice Trustees have a duty to ensure that the charity is well run, solvent, legally compliant, and working towards the charitable purpose for which it was established, and Trustee roles are an important and a highly rewarding way to support an organisation. Please note that Trustee roles are unremunerated voluntary positions, although reasonable travel expenses will be paid.
