Assistant Director of Individual Giving and Regional Advancement

Title of Position

Assistant Director of Individual Giving and Regional Advancement

Reporting to the Senior Director of Individual Giving & Regional Advancement, the Assistant Director of Individual Giving and Regional Advancement helps to grow the Fordham giving program, which supports nearly all schools, centers, and units across the University. Grounded in cura personalis (care for the whole person), the Assistant Director is charged with identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and closing gift commitments in the $5,000+ range;

retaining and increasing giving from existing donors; increasing donors and dollars from President’s Club and Doty Society donors; and meeting the fundraising goals and objectives established for the University.

Operating within a dedicated geographic region, this role will champion the University’s vision by balancing frontline relationship-building with data-driven strategy to build a robust local pipeline of support. The Assistant Director works collaboratively to drive leadership annual giving outreach and assist in developing intimate cultivation events that unite and inspire donors around our shared commitment to educational excellence.

Travel and evening/weekend work is required.

Essential Functions
  • Builds and maintains a personal portfolio of approximately 150 annual giving alumni, parent, and friend prospects, applying the principle of cura personalis to build genuine, long-term relationships. Devises individual engagement strategies for each prospect in their pool utilizing reflective discernment. Builds enduring relationships rooted in a shared vision between donors and the University to solicit annual gifts and/or multi-year gift commitments at the $5,000 level+, with specific solicitation goals to be determined in an annual goal-setting process.
  • Conducts initial outreach and discovery, employing professional curiosity to qualify unmanaged prospects in the region, securing discovery visits, and actively making introductions to colleagues for major gift cultivation.
  • Performs front-end and back-end data work to track, segment, and surface high-potential, unmanaged prospects within the database to maximize regional outreach.
  • Leads initial outreach, trip scheduling, and tracking mechanisms to ensure highly efficient, data-driven travel itineraries within the designated region.
  • Identifies and helps recruit potential volunteers for The President’s Club, the Doty Society, and reunions, ensuring that all feel a deep sense of belonging and connection to Fordham, regardless of their background.
  • Prepares materials for prospect solicitation process, which may include prospect lists, meeting briefings, and proposals. Translates institutional needs into inspiring narratives for the broader common good.
  • Utilizes CRM Advance and Fundraising Performance Management systems to record moves, asks, and outcomes, including contact reports, rating and staffing changes, proposals, and gift commitments.
