About the role

Are you an experienced volunteer engagement professional passionate about creating meaningful opportunities that connect people, strengthen communities and deliver lasting impact? Join Imperial's Alumni Engagement team and play a central role in supporting and growing a vibrant global volunteer community of over 275,000 alumni. You'll help connect alumni with opportunities to support students, strengthen affinity networks and contribute to Imperial's Science for Humanity strategy and fundraising campaign.

What

you would be doing

As Alumni Engagement Volunteer Officer, you will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of Imperial's alumni volunteer engagement programme, ensuring volunteers have an outstanding experience and are supported throughout their journey.

You will:

  • Recruit, onboard and support alumni volunteers across Imperial's affinity networks and student-facing initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with volunteer leaders, alumni, colleagues and stakeholders across Imperial.
  • Coordinate volunteering opportunities, maintaining a central database and promoting opportunities through Imperial's alumni platforms.
  • Deliver volunteer training workshops, webinars and resources to equip volunteers for success.
  • Support alumni involvement in mentoring programmes, speaker events, panels and other student engagement activities.
  • Play an important role in volunteer recognition and stewardship, helping volunteers understand the impact of their contributions.
  • Support the Alumni Awards programme and maintain relationships with award recipients and alumni ambassadors.
  • Monitor volunteer activity, maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting on programme performance and impact.
What we are looking for

We are looking for a proactive and organised relationship-builder who enjoys working with people and managing a varied workload.

You will have:

  • Experience supporting or managing volunteer, community engagement or similar programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across a wide range of audiences.
  • Experience coordinating projects, activities, events, committees or advisory groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting information and delivering training.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • A customer-focused approach and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers and external partners.
  • Knowledge of volunteer engagement best practice and an understanding of how volunteering supports engagement and organisational goals.
  • Confidence using databases and CRM systems.

Experience with in higher education, alumni relations, volunteering, fundraising or the not-for-profit sector would be an advantage.

Further Information

This is a full-time post (not less than 35 hours per week) primarily based at our White City campus, with occasional travel to other campuses.

£48,246 to £58,318 per annum
