Fund Raising Consultant; Fractional​/Part Time

McBride Sport Executive search have been instructed to identify someone for a project / contract with one of our sports charity clients. The sports related charity we are supporting (based in central London, though the role is largely remote) is relatively small and is looking for a Project Fundraising Consultant for an initial 6-9-month engagement (likely c. 3 days/week), with a view to handing over to a permanent successor once the foundations are in place.

In short, reporting to the Chief Executive, the brief is to:

• Work with the CEO to define the milestones, and outputs required to make a step change in fund raising activity.
• Break the fund raising target down into project-based goals with named trustee ownership, and get Board sign-off.
• Audit their existing (currently uncultivated) donor network, income streams and events, and data/CRM gaps.
• Build the fundraising strategy and get a CRM up and running.
• Lead direct fundraising delivery to get things started — major donors, corporate sponsorship, trusts and foundations and strengthen their existing signature event.
• Define and support recruitment of the permanent junior Fundraising Executive/Officer who'll take over, and hand everything over cleanly.

The charity's overall target is less than £1m for 2027, rising in 2028. About half of the 2027 figure is already secured through existing income and events and so this role is tasked with mapping out and beginning the process of raising the remaining and doing it in a way that builds a sustainable base the charity can keep building on into 2028 and beyond.

This role represents an excellent opportunity to join a young and ambitious sport related charity at an exciting time in their history. The ideal applicant will be an experienced fund raising consultant with experience across major donors, trusts, HNW individuals and corporate giving and will be prepared to commit to a fractional role for an initial period of at least 6 months.

Although based in central London our client will consider those based further afield who can commit to be in London at least once per week.
