Experienced Staff Nurse - Samaritan Ward

We are looking for enthusiastic, confident, dynamic and motivated experienced nurses with excellent communication skills and experience of oncology and haematology patients who contribute in maintaining highest standards of care whilst demonstrating effective leadership and providing support.
You are expected to provide ongoing care for Oncology and Haematology patients (including Sickle Cell) in our inpatient ward Samaritan (which will be transferred to Olive/Hazel – when the new cancer ward programme completes). You will be working with the wider multidisciplinary team in supporting patients receiving chemotherapy, radiotherapy and supportive care.
OverviewWe are looking for nurses wishing to develop their clinical and leadership skills to come join us on this exciting journey in caring for our Haematology Oncology patients.
All applicants must have NMC registration and ideally have experience in Haematology Oncology.
Main duties of the jobThis ward is part of a larger portfolio of Cancer and Sickle Cell wards. These units require a highly skilled workforce and staff will require experience in caring for patients with cancer or sickle cell disease. Staff will learn to care for patients having treatments, and learn the skills to administer chemotherapy. Experience of this will be an advantage but training will be provided.
Samaritanand Olive & Hazel
Samaritan Ward is an inpatient ward (14 beds) and Olive and Hazel are joint wards (26 beds) which will deliver specialist inpatient care for people with cancer and blood malignancies.

Jobresponsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the staff nurse role on Samaritan includes supporting the nursing and multidisciplinary workforce in contributing to delivering high standards of clinical leadership, and committed to excellent standard of patient care.
Responsible for assessing and recognising emergencies in the specialty. Supporting and leading the team in adhering to areas of compliance and governance. Provide leadership, support and guidance to staff in monitoring the planning and delivering of patient care.

Person Specification Experience- Experience of administering intravenous drug therapy
- Experience of working on own and in a team
- Experience of working in the relevant area
- Experience as NIC
- Experience as mentor/teaching for junior and students
