Senior Sister/Charge Nurse - Neonatal Unit

We are looking to recruit an experienced nurse able to lead our expert team of clinical staff as part of our dynamic, highly reputable multidisciplinary team.

As a senior sister you should hold both a neonatal and mentorship qualification and have previous experience at band 6.

We pride ourselves in developing leaders for the future and as such, will enhance your leadership and management skills through individualised professional leadership and clinical development.

Our nurses have the responsibility for planning, managing and coordinating clinical care for babies requiring high levels of nursing care and supporting staff to develop these skills on the unit.

The Future

The Neonatal Unit at the Princess Royal University Hospital has started re‑designation to an LNU on top of a major redesign and refurbishment of the unit with the provision of additional cots and improved service to the population.   • To act as a professional role model
  • To lead and co‑ordinate the nursing team, taking continuing responsibility for the management and organisation of the clinical area
  • To have continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care
  • To ensure a Navi high standard of nursing care and the well being of patients at all times

Clinical Practice

  • To work in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, Trust Policies and Procedures
  • To act as an expert for the care of neonates/infants, providing effective leadership and acting as a positive role model
  • To set agreed standards of nursing care and to monitor them and take action to improve if necessary
  • To communicate effectively with patients, their parents/carers and all healthcare personnel
  • To promote a holistic and multi‑disciplinary approach to care, ensuring continuity of care
  • In conjunction with comments senior nurses within the care group, to develop clinical policies and protocols relevant to the area, ensuring that practice is evidence based
Person Specification Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse - Adult or Child Branch
  • Formal qualification diploma/degree or working at this level and able to critically analyse situations
  • Post registration qualification in mentorship or ENB 997/998 or equivalent
