Location: Greater London

Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Oncology & haematology inpatient nursing team on Ward 23, with a plan to move to a new build ward in 2028.

To be successful you will be a keen, hardworking and enthusiastic nurse who is committed to providing a high standard of clinical care. You will need to have excellent communication skills with patients, relatives and members of the ward team. You will also need to demonstrate a passion for working within cancer care and have the ability to balance a workload which often includes acute oncological and haematological emergencies alongside the demands of providing symptom control, palliative and end‑of‑life care.

You will be working alongside an existing team who will support you in developing the necessary oncology and haematology skills and we will be happy to provide training in chemotherapy administration. You will need to be comfortable in dealing with patients who have complex cancer needs and be able to deal with difficult and distressing situations on occasion.

The patients cared for on this ward are having treatment for both solid tumours and blood cancers. This is an exciting opportunity for the right staff member who wants to develop their skills and experience in working within the ever changing field of cancer care. We are happy to support the successful individual with training to work with this specialist group of patients.

We are happy to take applications from newly qualified staff nurses.

Main duties of the job

This is a friendly and established team who will support any new starters well. The postholder will provide care for inpatients on chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and other anti‑cancer treatments and manage the side effects of these treatments.
