An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse to join the Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) at Charing Cross Hospital.
As a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse you will be part of the ward leadership team and will lead, support and grow a team of nurses & HCAs to deliver excellent care for patients experiencing stroke. You will represent the Imperial stroke service and deputise for the Ward Matron in their absence.

- Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision.
- Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence‑based, person‑centred care.
- Plan, organise and deploy staff according to ability and workload in order to meet patient needs.
- Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.
- Keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence based practice.
- Regularly take charge of the clinical area as required utilising appropriate support as necessary to ensure safe staffing levels are maintained.

Person Specification- NMC Registered General Nurse.
- Relevant specialist course or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience of speciality.
- Previous experience at Band 6.
- Experience of working in a relevant clinical setting.
- Experiencing working in HASU/stroke services.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems and contribute new ideas.
- Teaching
- NIC competency
- Ability to organise ward activities and to use initiative
- Knowledge of quality, standard setting and audit.
- Knowledge of speciality.
- Awareness of current developments in nursing.
- Competency in medication management, including IV medications.
- Skills required to undertake clinical activity related to speciality.

- Pan‑London Stroke Nurse competency.
