Senior Staff Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse to join the Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) at Charing Cross Hospital.

As a Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse you will be part of the ward leadership team and will lead, support and grow a team of nurses & HCAs to deliver excellent care for patients experiencing stroke. You will represent the Imperial stroke service and deputise for the Ward Matron in their absence.

• You will be supported by a highly motivated senior nursing team which includes a Ward Matron, Lead Nurse & Clinical Practice Educator.
• On‑going training which includes the Stroke Management & Care course, in‑house training (including regular thrombolysis/thrombectomy simulation) and ward‑based specialist learning.

• To demonstrate politeness, courtesy and sensitivity in dealing with patients/clients, visitors/relatives and colleagues, maintaining good customer relations.
• Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision.
• Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence‑based, person‑centred care.
• Plan, organise and deploy staff according to ability and workload in order to meet patient needs.
• Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.
• Keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence based practice.
• Regularly take charge of the clinical area as required utilising appropriate support as necessary to ensure safe staffing levels are maintained.

• NMC Registered General Nurse.
• Relevant specialist course or equivalent experience.

• Previous experience of speciality.
• Previous experience at Band 6.
• Experience of working in a relevant clinical setting.
• Experiencing working in HASU/stroke services.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to solve problems and contribute new ideas.
