Senior Staff Nurse – Medical Ward
Location: The Princess Grace Hospital, London
Time type: Full time, 37.5 hours per week
Shift times: Monday – Sunday (flexibility to work long days, nights & weekends 8AM - 8:30PM and 8PM - 8:30AM)
Contract: Permanent
Salary: Competitive plus 9% shift allowance
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Staff Nurse to join our dynamic and diverse team on the Medical Ward at Princess Grace Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop a career in Acute Medicine, with a fast‑paced, variety‑driven environment and a focus on delivering exceptional patient care across both acute and procedural settings.
The successful candidate must possess strong decision‑making skills and managerial experience in leading the day‑to‑day operations of a busy Medical Ward. You will play a key role in delivering safe, effective and patient‑centred care within a dynamic acute medical environment, working closely with the multi‑disciplinary team and with Medical Consultants from a wide range of specialties.
Our Acute Medicine pathway provides a 24/7 service, enabling immediate access to care via our Acute Admission Unit or Urgent Care Centre. You will manage acutely unwell patients and support our First‑Hour pathway, ensuring timely assessment, intervention, treatment and the delivery of high‑quality care.
This position is based within our 19‑beded Acute Medical Ward, caring for a diverse cohort of patients with acute needs and complex care needs, including a post‑operative pathway for breast surgery patients and day‑case procedures such as iron infusions and interventional radiology procedures.
What you'll bring Essential- Registered Nurse (NMC) with PREP requirements
- Proven experience in Acute Medical Ward, AAU or A&E (with desire to move to ward‑based environment)
- Strong clinical assessment and decision‑making skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Passion for delivering high‑quality patient care
- Demonstrated leadership or experience acting as nurse in charge
- Previous Senior Staff Nurse or equivalent experience
- Teaching/Mentorship qualification
- Experience in private healthcare
