Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to support the Ward Managers and team of nursing staff on Ward 22 Short stay within the Department of Acute Medicine at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. You will be an experienced RGN and be able to lead and assess the work of the nursing team, building upon your own clinical and managerial experience.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting the Ward Managers with the continuous improvement of the department, effectively monitoring and maintaining excellent standards of care that are reflected by patient experience. Sound clinical knowledge and experience in an acute setting is essential. You will supervise, manage and control the activities of the department efficiently, assess and implement appropriate care for new and current patients, and ensure adequate staffing levels and optimal resource use.
You will actively participate in teaching, training and supervising all grades of staff, remain receptive to change, and provide dynamic assistance and support to senior colleagues in the ongoing development of the department. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required; you will adopt a proactive management style, anticipate and constructively address issues within the multidisciplinary team, and be flexible in responding to an ever‑changing workload.
• Experienced Registered General Nurse (RGN) with proven supervisory and departmental management skills.
• Sound clinical knowledge and experience in an acute setting.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and proactive management abilities.
• Flexibility and adaptability to changing workloads.
