Research Nurse

Overview

A secondment opportunity at Band 6 for an experienced nurse to join the Research Nursing Team at the National Institute for Health Research UCLH Clinical Research Facility (CRF). The team delivers specialist care to patients in early phase clinical trials of experimental cancer and medicine treatments across Oncology, Haematology, Neurology, Medicine and Vaccine studies.

• Coordinate and support clinical trials within the CRF, ensuring compliance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines.
• Coordinate patient care on trials, collect and prepare biological samples, administer experimental agents, and monitor expected and unexpected side effects.
• Provide patient/carer education and act as patient advocate, enabling patients to make informed choices about trial participation.
• Maintain liaison with drug companies and study sponsors, ensuring accurate collection and submission of data in line with protocols and research regulations.
• Deputise for Senior Research Nurses when absent and support the development of new CRF team members.

• Registered nurse with significant experience in clinical trial care.
• Strong clinical skills allowing the provision of informed advice and patient advocacy.
• Ability to develop specialised knowledge of clinical trials, therapies, and relevant disease types.

Core hours are 09:00–17:00, with possible evening, night and weekend work as required.
