Role Overview

Imperial Vascular Unit is looking for a proactive and highly motivated senior nurse with experience in vascular nursing who will join the Vascular Nurse Specialist team. This role involves autonomous clinical patient reviews within nurse‑led clinics and inpatient services, and coordination of patient‑focused pathways to ensure appropriate and timely patient management.

Responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for and advise on the coordination of patient care within a vascular disease specific pathway, acting as the Vascular Nurse Specialist contact for the patient/client and their relatives/carers.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication pathways within the vascular nursing and medical teams, the multidisciplinary team, associated primary care teams, and tertiary referral hospital teams.
  • Provide specialist vascular nursing advice to support and facilitate high‑quality, individualized care to patients/clients with vascular disease and their relatives/carers without supervision in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team in line with local and national targets.
  • Provide specialist vascular nursing care and support and deputise for the line manager in the management of the clinical speciality. This will involve dealing with complex situations and taking appropriate action in a variety of settings.
  • Be flexible in the approach to vascular clinical areas across the Trust and provide cover for any area specified, acting as a professional role model and providing direct and indirect clinical care, teaching, and research.
Qualifications

Essential experience caring for patients with vascular disease. Experience or an interest in change management and quality improvement is an advantage. Strong communication and teamwork skills, ability to work autonomously, and experience of managing clinical specialities within a trust setting are required.
