NICU Senior Staff Nurse Band 6
We are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated Band 6 Neonatal staff nurses to join the Neonatal Unit at Whittington Health Trust. The unit is a Level 2 unit within the North Central North East London Perinatal Network, providing specialist care to neonates from 27 weeks gestation. We are ranked as ‘Outstanding’ for caring by the Care Quality Commission.
The unit adopts a family‑focused philosophy in which staff and parents work together in partnership to provide the highest standards of care and actively support developmental care.
ResponsibilitiesDeliver high quality care to sick neonates, embracing innovative nursing styles including developmental care, breastfeeding support and discharge planning. Support clinical skill development in a highly supportive environment, working with a Practice Educator and Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
Qualifications- Valid registration as an RN/RSCN/RM Neonatal Course (405 or equivalent – local requirement)
- Neonatal/Paediatric nursing experience ENB 997/998
- Analytical skill
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to be reflective
- Able to work within a multi‑racial and cultural environment
- Good organisational skills
- Knowledge and experience of working with staff and patients of various different background/cultures
- Polite and pleasant manner
- Commitment to neonatal nursing

To comply with the Trust’s Safeguarding Children and Adults policies, procedures and protocols, all staff have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. This requires:
- Familiarity with and compliance with the London Child Protection Procedures and protocols
- Familiarity with the London Multi‑Agency Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Pan London Procedures
- Familiarity with local protocols and systems for information sharing
- Knowledge of appropriate contact numbers and required reporting lines
- Participation in required training and supervision
- Compliance with required professional boundaries and codes of conduct
