Staff Nurse - ITU​/ICU​/Critical Care

The Critical Care Unit at Homerton is an exciting and rewarding place to work. The team provides high‑standard specialist care to critically ill patients across medical, surgical and obstetric conditions. We are expanding our team and the role involves assessing, planning, delivering and evaluating holistic nursing care for critically ill patients.

• To deliver a high standard of nursing care.
• To communicate with families and significant others, involving them in the planning and delivery of care.
• To organise patient discharges.
• To respond to clinical emergencies as required, ensuring that he/she is up to date with CPR training.
• To use medical equipment safely and competently.
• To record and monitor vital signs, recognising when to inform senior nursing staff in the event of clinical deterioration.
• To participate in a team approach to achieving ward/unit objectives.
• To liaise appropriately with all members of the multidisciplinary team in a manner that promotes effective teamwork.
• To support junior staff in their development, contributing to the learning environment by actively participating in ward teaching programmes.
• To complete mandatory training when required to do so.
• To ensure that own practice is evidence based.
• To follow a structured development pathway.
• Act in accordance with NMC Code of Professional Conduct and the Trust Values.
