Private Care at Guys - Sister/Charge Nurse

Private Care at Guys is seeking an experienced and motivated Sister/Charge Nurse to join our specialist Haematology & Oncology team. Based within one of the UK’s leading private cancer centres, you will have the opportunity to lead nursing care across a service delivering some of the most advanced cancer treatments available, including bispecific therapies, TIL immunotherapy, robotic‑assisted surgery and stem cell transplantation within our JACIE‑accredited unit.

As a senior clinical leader, you will provide visible leadership on the ward, ensuring high standards of patient care, effective workforce planning and operational excellence. You will support service development, quality improvement initiatives and staff development while working alongside internationally recognised consultants and multidisciplinary teams.

We are looking for a Registered Nurse with substantial post‑registration experience in haematology or oncology, SACT competency, and strong clinical skills in chemotherapy administration, cannulation, venepuncture and intravenous therapies. Previous leadership experience and the ability to inspire, support and develop nursing teams are essential.

This is an exciting opportunity to advance your career within a world‑class cancer service committed to innovation, excellence and outstanding patient care.

Main duties of the job

As a Sister/Charge Nurse, you will provide strong clinical and operational leadership, ensuring the delivery of safe, high‑quality, patient‑centred care across the Haematology & Oncology service. Acting as a visible leader during each shift, you will coordinate patient flow, oversee staffing levels and support the multidisciplinary team in managing complex patient needs.

You will be responsible for maintaining clinical standards, supporting the management of patients receiving systemic anti‑cancer therapies, and ensuring compliance with organisational policies, professional standards and governance requirements. You will lead and support nursing colleagues through supervision, performance management, training and professional development, helping to foster a positive and high‑performing team culture.

The role also involves contributing to service development, quality improvement initiatives, audits and incident investigations to enhance patient outcomes and staff experience. Working closely with consultants and allied healthcare professionals, you will play a key role in delivering seamless care pathways, supporting complex discharges and responding effectively to changing clinical priorities.
