Responsibilities
- Document all patient details to the required standard in relation to the admission, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care using the EPR system.
- Deliver a high standard of nursing care.
- Communicate with families and significant others, involving them in the planning and delivery of care.
- Co‑ordinate patient discharges, supported when necessary, by the discharge planning team.
- Manage clinical emergencies as required, ensuring that you are up to date with CPR training.
- Use medical equipment safely and competently and supervise others in its use.
- Record and interpret vital signs, taking required action when they demonstrate deterioration.
- Ensure that own practice and that of junior staff is evidence based.
- Keep a personal portfolio and be able to identify personal learning needs.
- Liaise appropriately with all members of the multidisciplinary team in a manner that promotes effective teamwork.
- Support the sister/charge nurse in achieving ward/dept objectives.
- Act as an advocate for the nursing team ensuring that clinical decisions are made with appropriate input from the nursing team.
- Support and facilitate junior staff in their development, contributing to the learning environment by participating in ward teaching programmes.
- Participate in trust wide programmes that enhance the quality of nursing care such as ’Essence of Care’ and undertake ’Link Nurse’ roles.
We are looking for experienced nurses who can demonstrate autonomous working, manage their own caseload, possess acute care skills and a commitment to patient‑centred care.
