Staff Nurse (Oncology Ward)

Hours:
37.5 hours per week (Fixed Term contract)
Pay: £37,080 - £46,890 per annum depending on experience and qualifications
Shifts:
days/nights/weekends (08:00–20:30 or 20:00–08:30)

What you’ll do- Provide high quality physical and psychological care with compassion
- Confidently and safely communicate patients care needs
- Have the courage to speak up and a commitment to be a patient advocate
- Participate in the delivery of a consistent, safe service in all aspects of the patient journey while demonstrating a culture of customer service
- Manage care of allocated patients
- Demonstrate professional awareness and accountability
- Act as a Link Nurse in a designated area reporting to and from meetings / training updates
- Recognise the needs for DOL’s assessments, mental capacity assessment and simple and complex safeguarding referrals and highlight any concerns
- Liaise with the Support Services to ensure all non-clinical needs are met including cultural, sexual, religious, and any other special needs of the patients
- Have a working knowledge of emergency policies including cardiac arrest and fire
- Deputise for the Senior Staff Nurse in their absence
- Undertake clinical duties in any area reasonably requested ensuring that you practice within your professional competencies and abilities
- Relate to the sister /Charge Nurse/Lead Nurse in regard to professional issues
- Maintain positive working relationships with all Consultants, ensuring individual Consultant protocols are utilised
- Registered General Nurse and NMC PIN required
- First level registration
- ILS certification
- Experience in a similar oncology setting (desirable)
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Experience in risk assessment
- Competent with venepuncture and wound care management
- 25 days holiday per year, pro rata to your contract
