Staff Nurse (Oncology Ward)

Hours:

37.5 hours per week (Fixed Term contract)

Pay: £37,080 - £46,890 per annum depending on experience and qualifications

Shifts:

days/nights/weekends (08:00–20:30 or 20:00–08:30)

• Manage care of allocated patients
• Demonstrate professional awareness and accountability
• Act as a Link Nurse in a designated area reporting to and from meetings / training updates
• Recognise the needs for DOL’s assessments, mental capacity assessment and simple and complex safeguarding referrals and highlight any concerns
• Liaise with the Support Services to ensure all non-clinical needs are met including cultural, sexual, religious, and any other special needs of the patients
• Have a working knowledge of emergency policies including cardiac arrest and fire
• Deputise for the Senior Staff Nurse in their absence
• Undertake clinical duties in any area reasonably requested ensuring that you practice within your professional competencies and abilities
• Relate to the sister /Charge Nurse/Lead Nurse in regard to professional issues
• Maintain positive working relationships with all Consultants, ensuring individual Consultant protocols are utilised

• Registered General Nurse and NMC PIN required
• First level registration
• ILS certification
• Experience in a similar oncology setting (desirable)
• Evidence of continuous professional development
• Experience in risk assessment
• Competent with venepuncture and wound care management
