An opportunity has arisen for a specialist school nurse to support the H3 Federation schools (Harmood School and Heath School), Gloucester House and Robson House. These units provide education for children at risk of not achieving positive outcomes, including:

• Children and young people with special educational needs.
• Children and young people with emotional, behavioural and social difficulties who have been excluded or are struggling.

You will be supported by a skill mix team of school nursing professionals to deliver the Healthy Child Programme From 5-19 years old (DOH 2009). Work in partnership with multiple agencies to meet the health needs of children and young people, families and the wider community.

Coordinate health needs of Camden children under a Child Protection plan who are not currently attending a Local Authority maintained school.

Use sufficient post registration experience in children’s/paediatric settings to enable effective multi‑agency working in PRU settings.

The role requires experience working with diverse communities and children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Experience supporting children with complex needs such as child protection and mental/emotional health is essential.

• Evidence of CPD in relevant field.
• Specialist Community Public Health (SCPHN) qualification.
• RGN/RN, RCN / RMN.
• Specialist Sexual Health or Substance Misuse Training.

• Sufficient post registration experience in a children’s/paediatric setting for effective multi‑agency working in PRU settings.
• Experience working with diverse communities.
• Significant experience working with children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
• Experience supporting children with complex needs such as child protection and mental/emotional health.
  
  Experience working in multi‑agency/integrated teams.
• Experience working within a Pupil Referral Unit.
• Mentorship/Teaching or Preceptorship for students or newly qualified staff.

• Excellent written and verbal communication, including ability to communicate with a diversity of people.
• IT literacy.
• Knowledge of current Public Health Outcome Framework.
• Knowledge of children’s special needs, e.g., emotional health, educational support.
• Equality and valuing diversity.
• Quality monitoring including audit, risk management and indicators of effective practice.
