Overview
Outpatients Senior Sister / Charge Nurse – Band 7 Registered Nurse leading and supporting the Surgical Outpatient Department at St George's.
The closing date is 30 July 2026
Responsibilities- Provide leadership in clinical care and specialist advice for adults attending a wide range of clinics and services within the Outpatients Department.
- Demonstrate visible leadership, training and supervision, acting as the interface between Outpatients services and the rest of the Trust.
- Manage budget resources through monthly reviews with the Matron and Finance Officer.
- Support and deputise for the Outpatient Matron to ensure high-quality nursing care and effective staff management.
- Ensure education and training opportunities for all staff, including pre- and post-registration students, and provide specialist knowledge where required for post-registration courses.
- Ensure the environment provides a safe and comfortable area for patients.

Person Specification Experience- Post‑registration experience in a Band 6 or mid-management role.
- Demonstrated leadership across inpatient or outpatient settings.
- CNS or Lead nurse experience.
- Quality or service improvement
- Wound dressing and venepuncture skills
- Knowledge of evidence‑based practice and current nursing issues, including the Friends and Family Test and Care Quality Commission Standards for clinical environments.
- Motivation, compassion, adaptability, and the ability to use initiative; ability to identify and manage stress in self and others.
