Overview
Band 6 Nurse Practitioner position within the Paediatric Pre‑assessment team at the Royal Hospital for Children.
Role is part of an outpatient, nurse‑led service that assesses children and young people requiring a procedure under general anaesthesia, working in partnership with an anaesthetist team.
Shift pattern Monday‑Friday with potential evening and weekend rotation.
Responsibilities- Take patient history and perform a physical examination of children and young people.
- Prepare patients and families/carers for the procedure and refer any anaesthetic, medical or psychological issues to the appropriate discipline.
- Prioritise workload in a fast‑paced environment and use clinical skills to assess patient needs for an effective patient journey.
- Participate in audits and contribute to the planning, development and delivery of the service.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team and demonstrate evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Hold a recognised clinical assessment qualification; if not, must obtain one and comply with Annex 21 policy.
