Nurse Practitioner - Sexual Health

We are looking for a nurse practitioner to join the team at 10 Hammersmith Broadway as part of Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust. We provide excellent HIV and sexual and reproductive healthcare in West London.

We are looking for someone who is motivated, enthusiastic and possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will have the ability to work and lead effectively amongst a multidisciplinary team across an innovative service, with strong advanced practice skills and knowledge, and be committed to ongoing professional development for yourself and the service.

Some roles may require weekend shifts at multiple sites.

Main duties of the job
  • Ensure delivery of high quality clinical services within a clinical governance framework.
  • Provide clinical leadership to staff, working in close collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and outside agencies.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative working with clinical and educational networks.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out within trust policies and guidelines.
  • Lead on specified development and outreach projects within the clinic as part of the Heads of Department.
Job responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities
  • Use advanced sexual health/HIV knowledge and skills to independently manage episodes of care within scope of practice.
  • Provide clinical guidance and specialist advice to the nursing team and act as role model for advanced practice.
  • Supply and administer medicines under patient group directions or as a non‑medical prescriber for sexual health/HIV and contraception patients.
  • Contribute to evidence‑based practice and research projects and ensure written standards for clinical care are formulated, utilised and reviewed.
  • Collaborate with lead nurses for professional support and guidance.
  • Develop guidelines and protocols with lead nurses, ANPs and clinic manager for sexual health/HIV and contraception.
Managerial Responsibilities
  • Assist clinic manager with day‑to‑day management of nursing staff in their absence.
  • Contribute to the business planning process, ensuring nursing strategy aspects are incorporated.
  • Ensure departmental budget and resources are utilized effectively.
  • Assist with monitoring department activity, especially young peoples, outreach and contraception services, through audit and other measurement tools.
  • Advise on composition and skill mix of nursing team.
Education/Research Responsibilities
  • Act as mentor and role model for new staff and students.
  • Facilitate development of team members in their professional education role.
  • Assist in research initiatives with clinic manager and ANPs.
  • Access clinical supervision within the trust.
  • Encourage an appropriate learning environment and participate in educational initiatives as required.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Ensure communication with patients and relatives is supportive, informative and confidential.
  • Be responsible for and demonstrate personal professional development and maintain up‑to‑date clinical skills.
  • Be aware of responsibilities under the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Recognise limitations and seek advice from senior colleagues as necessary.
Financial and Business Responsibilities
  • Contribute to business planning, ensuring nursing strategy aspects are incorporated.
  • Contribute alongside clinic manager and heads to review budget, identify cost pressures and service developments for the planning cycle.
Person Specification EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Registered Nurse
  • Successfully completed teaching/assessing course
  • Evidence of comprehensive professional development

EXPERIENCE
  • Extensive GUM experience, managing male and female patients
