This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a fast‑paced and highly specialised Neuro Theatre environment supporting a wide range of complex procedures, including:

• Complex spinal surgery
• Neuroangiography and interventional neuroradiology
• MRI under anaesthesia/sedation
• Major trauma and emergency neurosurgical care

We are seeking a committed, innovative, and theatre‑experienced BSc RN/ODP to join our senior nursing team as Neuro Theatre Clinical Manager for the Scrub Team
. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and high‑quality perioperative care while contributing to ongoing service development and improvement alongside the Theatre Band 7 team.

• Act as a professional role model, demonstrating clinical excellence and leadership at all times.
• Lead and coordinate the Neuro Theatre team, maintaining continuing responsibility for the effective management and organisation of the clinical area.
• Take responsibility for patient safety, patient experience, and the overall quality of care within the Neuro Theatre Department.
• Undertake patient assessment and clinical management, ensuring the team consistently delivers a high standard of care.
• Ensure the wellbeing, dignity, and comfort of patients are maintained at all times.
• Support the development, teaching, appraisal, and wellbeing of all staff, including registered and unregistered team members.
• Manage designated budgets effectively and contribute to the efficient use of departmental resources.

Clinical Practice

• Work in accordance with the NMC / HCPC Code of Professional Conduct, Trust Policies and Procedures.
• Act as an expert for the care of a specified group of patients, providing effective leadership, acting as a positive role model and demonstrating advanced specialist practitioner skills.
• Deliver compassionate care at all times in the designated clinical area and take remedial steps where this is not consistently delivered.
• Ensure patient privacy and dignity is maintained at all times and comply with single sex accommodation requirements.
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and carers, and all healthcare personnel.
• Be fully involved in the health education of patients and relatives, promoting a healthy lifestyle.
• Promote a holistic and multi‑disciplinary approach to care, ensuring continuity of care.
• Develop clinical policies and protocols relevant to the area, ensuring evidence‑based practice.
• Ensure compliance with key quality indicators within the designated clinical area and activate remedial plans to improve non‑compliance.

Education and Research

• Ensure a good quality clinical learning environment that supports students and continuing professional development.
• Develop and implement a professional support system for all practitioners within the department.
• Deliver appropriate education and ensure staff complete mandatory learning programmes.
• Maintain relationships with Link Tutor/Lecturer Practitioner and participate in the Educational Audit.
• Participate in Trust‑approved research studies and report progress to the Assistant Director of Nursing (Education and Research).
• Develop a divisional strategy for nursing/perioperative expertise development and sharing.
• Recruit and retain staff within the designated area proactively.

Management

• Organise and manage the designated clinical area on a 24‑hour basis, ensuring accurate and timely staff rosters.
• Ensure skill mix compliance with patient safety and experience needs.
• Record and act on manpower returns such as annual leave, sickness and other absences, providing weekly feedback to the matron.
• Work within allocated budgets and ensure efficient resource utilisation.
• Review clinical area workload, acuity and throughput regularly with the Matron and Service Manager.
• Ensure ad‑hoc staff bookings comply with policy and that staff are properly inducted and supervised.
