GVC are assisting a friendly, progressive and well-established small animal practice in North West London that is looking to welcome a motivated Head Registered Veterinary Nurse (or aspiring Head RVN) to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a nurse who enjoys leading from the front, supporting others, and remaining hands‑on clinically.

, with a strong focus on clinical standards, team wellbeing, and collaboration. The team is supported by visiting peripatetic specialists and works within a well‑equipped environment including an in‑house lab, ultrasound, digital X‑ray, and species‑specific kennels.

The RoleThis is a full‑time position (40 hours per week) with a 1 in 3 Saturday rota and no out‑of‑hours work
, supporting an excellent work‑life balance.
You will play a key role in both the clinical and professional development of the nursing team
, working closely with the Head Vet and Practice Manager.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and supporting the nursing team on a day‑to‑day basis
- Clinical coaching and supporting Student Veterinary Nurses
- Running nurse clinics (e.g. obesity, diabetes, behavioural consults)
- Performing Schedule 3 procedures, including dental scale and polish
- Supporting routine procedures such as second vaccinations and post‑operative checks
- Contributing to the ongoing development of the practice and nursing services
- RCVS registered RVN
- Either an established Head Nurse or an experienced RVN ready to step up
- Confident communicator with a positive, lead‑by‑example approach
- Previous clinical coaching experience is desirable, but full support and training can be provided
- Salary up to £40,000 pro rata (DOE)
- No OOH
- 1 in 3 Saturdays
- CPD allowance up to £500 per year with 2 days paid CPD
- Support towards becoming a Clinical Coach
